Cents win 7-2! Stay in first place.
Lucknow was there to play and earn their first win. And they made Seaforth work.
Score at end of 1st period: 1-0 Cents
Score at end of 2nd period: 2-2 (and a Lancers' penalty that carried into the third).
#1 player of the game was Lucknow goaltender #33 Liam McCarthy.
At the end of the second period, McCarthy had faced 41 Seaforth shots! And held his team to a tied game.
The barrage by the Cents and lack of a goal response from his Lucknow roster in the 3rd period tilted the game in Seaforth's favour on home ice... not to mention 4/5 of those goals were on the powerplay for the home team.
The scrappiness factor escalated. Many chippy moments, especially from the end of 2nd period onward with several major penalties handed out.
Lucknow does have the ability to win. But the shots for and against were SO lopsided.
Shots on net:
1st Period
Cents - 17
Lancers - 6
2nd Period
Cents - 24
Lancers - 4
3rd Period
Cents - 14
Lancers - 9
In terms of percentages, Cents goalie Tyler Parr faced 34.5% of the shots that his opposing goalie faced. But Parr was on his game.
If any team in this league, and any other competitive league, can manage 55 shots in a game, they're doing something right.
Game-star performance on Seaforth has to go to #9 Kyle Stanbury with a hat-trick on the night, and two assists (including the GWG by Cohen Adair) for 5 points. Kudos also to Parr playing consistently for 60 minutes of hockey.
Special teams/penalties again made the difference with 5/7 of the Cents goals coming on the PP. Also recognition to #19 Brett Binning of Lucknow for coming up with a short-handed goal in the 2nd period before #22 Trent Michie's tying goal for Lucknow at 4:13 of the second period.
No rest for the OEHL's #1 team. As this late report for last night is being posted, your Cents are on the road facing the Erin Outlaws. It's a 1-1 game with Alex Hutcheson in net for Seaforth. Oh! And another update: now 2-1 for the Cents near the end of the first.
NEXT HOME GAME: Saturday, Nov 9 vs Creemore Coyotes at 7:30 pm
